About this procedure
A ganglion cyst is a benign, fluid-filled sac that commonly forms near tendons and joints of the foot and ankle. Many need no treatment — but when one presses on a nerve or makes shoes painful, draining it brings fast relief.
This short clip shows an aspiration: the cyst’s thick, gel-like contents are withdrawn through a needle. The procedure takes minutes and most patients walk out immediately after.
Aspirated cysts can recur; when they do, minimally invasive excision is the definitive option — something we also perform in-house.
